about
Love is a complicated game. At first, when you’re young, it feels like that other person is the world. When they leave or lie or get boring, it breaks your heart and you feel empty. You can tell yourself, or maybe even your current partner, that he or she is the “one”; but we all know that’s a lie. It’s just something we say.
After we get older and have suffered a few monumental heartbreaks, we realize that lovers come and go. This song is about that. Yes, we carry the bones of our previous relationships and we might even fall in love with being in love, but no one really ever wins. We just learn how to lose better. In the end, you go your own way.
lyrics
I don’t really need to begin at the beginning.
We all know the story how love goes bad.
Another bump in the road.
Feels like I’m draggin’ a big bag of bones.
I see no reason to cry/lie.
Oh baby, it’s you to yours and me to mine.
One day you wake up, and you maybe notice,
it’s not you that’s lying there in the bed.
And the person beside you is just foreign.
You don’t care about what’s in their head.
You can promise forever, but you’ll lie.
See there’s never a winner, so don’t cry.
So it ends at the ending.
No big drama show, no broken dreams.
But you gotta remember that in that ending,
there’s a beginning,
‘cuz you’ll play again.
